Sports Ministry
"For in Him we live, and move and are."

We sponsor activities all year for novice to advanced athletes, as well as many leisure and family recreational pursuits. Most events are open to both males and females ages 16 and up.

We have a spacious gymnasium suitable for all types of events. The gym is used by child, teens and adults on a weekly basis.

Winter Basketball
If you enjoy basketball this is for you! Our recreational season of play begins in October and continues through March ending with a church league tournament in the Midwest.

Annual Golf Outing
Each year a group of men take 3 - 4 days and travel to a golf/resort complex. Past trips have been to South Carolina, Arkansas and Southern Illinois. A good time of extended play and fellowship is had by all. Local events are attended from time to time as well.

Volleyball
Co-ed volleyball is played on Monday nights in the gym. This is for those aged 16 and up who enjoy volleyball. All levels of abilities are welcomed and encourage to attend with two courts being utilized.

Area Sporting Events
Being in the Chicago area gives opportunity to attend some of the best sporting events in the nation. From time to time we attend pro baseball, basketball and hockey events. Also local minor league baseball events such as the Joliet Jackhammers have been attended. All ages welcomed and encouraged to attend.

Summer Co-ed Softball
A team is formed in the summer to participate in church league softball either through the Joliet Park District or the YMCA.

Exercise Class
This is a new activity for our ladies designed to help tone the body but also bless the soul. This group meets at a time mutually agreed upon by the group. For more information contact the church office.

Senior Adult Ministry
The Senior Citizens participate in a wide variety of activities. The highlight of the year is an event called Prime Time hosted by Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonnais, IL in the fall of the year. This is a day when nearly one thousand Senior Citizens from across the nation gather to enjoy food and fellowship plus outstanding music and inspiration from local, national, and international artists.

An annual district wide Senior Citizen Thanksgiving banquet at the Manteno, IL Church of the Nazarene, is attended and enjoyed by many.

On the local level, a Bible Study is a regular Wednesday morning activity. This is a time of prayer for special needs in addition to a time of Bible study and fellowship. Following the study session, the group may, on occasion, enjoy lunch together

The Seniors also provide monthly financial support helping a third world child to receive a Christian education.

A future goal is to provide regular visits to members and friends who are unable for various reasons to attend the services of the church.
